I thought the Office would be awful but actually I think the U.S. version is better than the U.K. one. I love Gavin and Stacey and hear it’s going over the pond too, I hope they do a good job. Can anything be quite the same without Alison Steadman?

Stupid idea, there’s no way they’ll get it
Some of us Brits don’t get it.
I dunno it’s very suburban Uk-ish – would the US relate to a Daily Mail reading family in Essex and Butlin’s seaside town Barry ? The writers will have to adapt it very well I think. But you are right they did it with the office, so it’s all in the translation I think, there must be equivalent families and locations in the States, thing is, if it’s too translated, it might turn into a different programme and defeat the object. I’ll be watching out to see how it fares.
They will set it in America, so say they will put 2gether someone from alabama with some one from New York! I duno if that will translate well when adapted in to american culture or by the time the american producers have butchered the concept! I love Gavin and Stacey and i think it will be ruined by the yanks! Also your right it wont be the same without Alison!

It won’t work, they have a different sense of humour. I think most U.S comedy shows dont know how to have a laugh at themselves. Everything is “shiny and perfect”.
