I have 512mb of RAM on my computer, is this enough to install windows 7 ultimate (I already have the CD ready).
Also what do I need to do to install this, do I need to reformat my hard drive?

It will install but will always run slowly.
512MB is very small RAM these days. You should consider upgrading
I’m sure I read somewhere you need at least 1gb. Not sure about the rest of your question but the Microsoft website will probably have all the info you need.
could work not recommend xp should be fine leave it as is unless you upgrade your ram
No way will it work, XP barely runs with 512mb, vista won’t run with 512mb and windows 7 won’t either.
Well, I managed to run a beta version of Vista on a pc with 512mb of RAM however it was so slow it was almost unusable just like Windows 7 will be. You may be able to run it on a PC with 1Gb of RAM but at least 2Gb is still ideal for the operating system to run efficiently.
Installing Win7 IS re-formatting your computer, that’s how you load an operating system.
No 512MB of RAM is no good, you want 3GB.
Have you run the compatibility tool? You should.
it will be only slow during setting up after that it will be normal and u will need to format the PARTITION which will be used for the setup not all the hard disk
Ram is easy to add and cheap nowdays. Go to Newegg.com for best store and prices. Go to Crucial.com and run the free scan to see what ram you have. DDR 3200 ram is about $32 for 1 GB which is all you need to add. DDR2 ram is about 40 to 45 dollars for 2 GB ram. You will notice a lot of speed increase by adding 1 GB. If you want to, e-mail me and I will tell you how to install it. Click on my avatar to e-mail.
Yes, you can, but you should put a 2+ gb flashdrive in and use ready boost or create a pagefile on it.
(I have 12 GB of ram)
According to Microsoft your computer will need at least 1GB RAM if you intend to run the 32-bit version and 2GB RAM if you intend to run the 64-bit version.
Take a look at the following page for further information.
Do you guys really think windows 7 is as good as the hype? Or is it truly just another vista flop?

Admin,
It would be advisible to add additional RAM if planning to upgrade to Windows 7. Also, to determine if your current computer configuration will be compatible with Windows 7 please go to the following link:
